Varying Responses of Invertebrates to Biodynamic, Organic and Conventional Viticulture

چکیده

Alternative farming methods must be deployed to mitigate the detrimental impacts of intensive agriculture on climate, biodiversity, and ecosystem services. Organic biodynamic are environmental-friendly practices that progressively replace conventional agriculture. While potential biodiversity benefits organic vs . have been studied repeatedly, effects remain ill-understood. We investigated these three main management regimes, their interaction with ground vegetation cover, vineyard invertebrate communities in SW Switzerland. Invertebrates were sampled times during season 2016, focusing ground-dwelling (pitfall traps) epiphytic (sweep-netting) invertebrates, abundance was modelled for single, additive, interactive influences cover. Overall, and, but a lesser degree, vineyards provided better conditions than vineyards. On one hand, there significant between cover invertebrates positive linear increase organic, curvilinear relationship negative response The primarily affected by regime alone, i.e. without any characteristics, leading much higher abundances compared vineyards, while did not differ from other two regimes. interpret patterns as follows: grape production offers more suitable habitat due spatially heterogenous also less often disturbed (compared management) or destroyed conventional) line predictions intermediate disturbance hypothesis. Biodynamic viticultural regimes provide is either too mineral (conventional: widely eliminated) subject soil happening frequently through ploughing (biodynamic). conclude alternative do promote agro-ecosystems, especially so management.

Functional and structural microbial diversity in organic and conventional viticulture: organic farming benefits natural biocontrol agents.

Statistically significant differences in the structure and function of above-ground grapevine-associated microorganisms from organically and conventionally managed vineyards were found. Aureobasidium pullulans, a copper-detoxifying fungus and biocontrol agent, plays a key role in explaining these differences. The black fungus was strongly enriched in the communities of organically managed plant...

Varying responses of insect herbivores to altered plant chemistry under organic and conventional treatments.

The hypothesis that plants supplied with organic fertilizers are better defended against insect herbivores than those supplied with synthetic fertilizers was tested over two field seasons. Organic and synthetic fertilizer treatments at two nitrogen concentrations were supplied to Brassica plants, and their effects on the abundance of herbivore species and plant chemistry were assessed. The orga...

Physiological and morphological responses of rice (Oryza sativa L.) to varying water stress management strategies

Sustainability of rice production under limited water conditions is threatened by increasing irrigation water scarcity. Therefore, physiological and morphological responses of rice to varying water stress management strategies should be determined. The physiological and morphological responses of a semi dwarf rice (Hashemi cultivar) to water stress intensities (mild and severe, i.e., short-dura...

CARDIOVASCULAR RESPONSES TO HYPERCAPNIA AND VARYING LEVELS OF ARTERIAL pH IN THE ANESTHETIZED CAT

Effects of acute hypercapnia on the cardiovascular system (CYS) were studied in the anesthetized cat. After surgery the animal was exposed to a gas mixture of 12% CO2 and 25% O2 in nitrogen, and hypercapnia with low levels of arterial pH (pHa) was produced for 20 minutes. In the second run the same level of hypercapnia was induced by ventilating the same cat from the above gas mixture but ...

Agro- physiological responses of Carthamus tinctorius L. to sources of nitrogen fertilizer and organic manure

Excessive consumption of nitrogen (N) to enhance production, which may lead to environmental pollution. While sustainable production is threatened due to low soil fertility and organic matter. This study was carried out as a factorial experiment in the randomized complete block design and three replications at the research field of the University of Jiroft in 2018-2019. The present study invest...
